In March 2012, we went to the Emerge conference at ASU in Tempe, AZ.
Emerge was an interesting experience because we were there in several capacities: Karen was responsible for organizing and coordinating the “Powered by Fiction” exhibit, I was responsible for preparing our own corner of the exhibit focusing on Captain Chronomek, and we were both participating in different workshops as part of the conference. This was enough to keep us both pretty busy as we picked up artists and Intel folks from the airport, attended conference sessions, worked in the gallery, and coordinated with conference folks to make certain everything ran smoothly. By the end of the weekend we were happily exhausted.
The Exhibit Our primary responsibility was to make certain the exhibit ran smoothly. The show was designed by the amazing folks from Incubate Design. There were four artists represented, along with a library of design fiction reading that Karen curated.
The artists included Marc Thomson and his work on uncovering the “lost genius Henry Hoke”:
Paul Guinan and Anina Bennett presented Boilerplate:
And Adiel Fernandez as AdielAngel:
It was both awesome and surreal to see Captain Chronomek given a full exhibit & comic book treatment:
It was an exhausting, but very fun trip!
